Working Principle
Geomembrane welding machines primarily include hot wedge, hot air, and ultrasonic types, with hot wedge and hot air being the most common.
Hot Wedge Welding: A heated wedge melts the contact surfaces of two geomembrane sheets, which are then pressed together under controlled pressure to form a strong seam.
Hot Air Welding: High-temperature air from a heat gun melts the welding area, followed by pressure application via rollers to fuse the geomembranes.
Structural Composition
Hot Wedge Welder:
Heating System: Heated wedge for melting geomembranes.
Pressure System: Adjustable for varying thicknesses and weld requirements.
Drive Mechanism: Ensures consistent welding speed.
Control System: Precisely regulates temperature, speed, and pressure.
Hot Air Welder:
Heat Gun: Generates hot air directed through a nozzle.
Pressure Rollers: Ensure tight bonding during welding.
Drive & Control Systems: Similar to hot wedge models for mobility and parameter management.
Features & Applications
Hot Wedge Welder:
Pros: Fast, high-strength welds; ideal for thick geomembranes.
Cons: Heavy, expensive, requires skilled operation.
Applications: Large-scale projects (landfills, reservoirs) demanding premium seam quality.
Hot Air Welder:
Pros: Lightweight, versatile for complex shapes/curves.
Cons: Slower speed, slightly weaker seams.
Applications: Small projects (pond liners) or hard-to-reach areas (corners, curves).
Operational Guidelines
Pre-Welding:
Inspect machine settings (temperature, pressure, speed).
Clean welding surfaces (remove debris, moisture).
Welding Process:
Temperature: Too high → scorching; too low → poor fusion.
Pressure: Excessive → thinning/tearing; insufficient → weak bonds.
Speed: Too fast → incomplete welding; too slow → overheating.
Adjust parameters based on material/thickness:
Post-Welding:
Inspect seams for continuity, uniformity, and defects (gaps, bubbles).
Repair flaws immediately.
Precision in welding ensures geomembrane integrity—balancing efficiency with uncompromised durability.
